Our work with a UK challenger bank

Challenge

Following approved Capability and Innovation funding, the bank was investing to expand its business banking operation across both the physical branch network and digital channels.

Approach

Project One provided programme directorship to orchestrate the overall delivery of the programme, working in conjunction with key stakeholders and functions including the executive sponsor. This required close management and control of the Systems Integrator, ensuring that the bank was receiving good value for money and also that delivery remained on track. The planning and execution of the transition to a more internally based team was also driven by Project One. The programme resulted in significant volume increases in business banking customer take on.

In addition, IT leadership was injected into the Financial Crime improvement programme, a multi-year, multi-million pound initiative to bring the bank in line with regulatory standards across Anti Money Laundering and Customer Due Diligence activities. This required significant change across the branch and digital areas, and required multiple IT platform releases over an extended period of time. It was critical to manage all of the moving parts and to ensure that the business stakeholders remained informed with the right information to make the right decisions.

Outcome

Project One also provided overall IT Portfolio control, including programme management support to shape and deliver the IT elements of the GDPR compliance programme.  This involved the direction and day to day management of all IT vendor deliveries and dependency management from other internal enabler projects.

The required outcome was met to ensure all IT capabilities were in place to ensure compliance.

“Thanks, I really appreciate all of your efforts to get the project over the line.  As you know, it’s a really important milestone.”
