They implemented an engineering re-organisation in summer 2024, slicing the ~14,000 engineers across the Group into 10 separate capabilities. The master data and financial planning & reporting processes needed to catchup, so that the 10 new leaders had the right Management information and insights to make the right decisions for their new teams.
Additionally, there were a number of very inefficient processes e.g. intercompany which were causing engineering delays.
The master data within SAP, and Oracle products such as HFM (Hyperion Financial Management) and VBM (Value-Based Management), also required changes in order to support slicing the company by the 10 new engineering capabilities.
The new central Engineering Technology and Safety (ET&S) function of 20 people was also inefficient and was top heavy in terms of resource – too many managers and not enough ‘doers’. Restructuring this team was an additional aim of the transformation programme.
