An interview with Kath Moore, Consultant

KATH’S BACKGROUND

I have 25 years’ experience of managing change in the Financial Service Industry, both as a consultant and a business leader in major banks and insurance companies. I have particular experience in managing mixed teams of client and consulting staff across different disciplines to deliver business solutions.

WHAT I’M MOST PROUD OF IN MY TIME AT PROJECT ONE

In my time at Project one I am most proud of the great team we built in Scotland. A great mix of people dedicated to delivering for their clients.

 

WHAT MAKES PROJECT ONE SPECIAL TO ME

At Project One we genuinely are one team, focused on driving successful change. Having spent most of my career in large organisations where bureaucracy and organisational politics can make it hard to do the right thing, it’s enormously liberating to be part of an organisation where your one objective is to help your client deliver the best outcomes possible.

An interview with Alistair Burt, Consultant

ALISTAIR’S BACKGROUND

I started my career as a Management Consultant/ SI and spent 11 years delivering projects and programmes across a variety of industries including, Media, Utilities, Entertainment and Telecoms. I then moved into industry side and held various Senior Leadership roles across IT functions, and latterly owning Transformation across a substantial P&L. Joining Project One was an opportunity to use all the experience I have gained in a very real and practical way.

WHAT I’M MOST PROUD OF IN MY TIME AT PROJECT ONE

I’m well into my first substantive assignment at Project and am enjoying the challenge and the close collaboration with our client. As Project One we’ve been asked to lead a major Business & IT transformation for our customer that will shape the fortunes and the future for years to come. I joined whilst the Programme was in-flight and am proud of have being able to quickly gain an understanding of the urgent priorities and pragmatically move the programme forwards at pace, whilst building more solid foundations for the long-term in parallel. All this was achieved through hard work and building trust.

WHAT MAKES PROJECT ONE SPECIAL TO ME

Project One offers an incredible variety of assignments from short, sharp assessments to huge, complex multi-year transformations and everything in-between. The operating model in place means there is a spirit of collaboration and not competition among Consultants. People go out of their way to help, providing information and expertise, and this is seen time and time again. With the all the years of experience across so much change within Project One, it is a hugely powerful team to have behind you.

An interview with Martin Creedy, Consultant

MARTIN’S BACKGROUND

My background spans well over 20 years working in a variety of consulting roles on large scale business transformation programmes, for many well-known global clients. I enjoy the challenges of complex programme management and delivering real benefits to the clients I work with.

WHAT I’M MOST PROUD OF IN MY TIME AT PROJECT ONE

A Finance Transformation Programme where we rapidly mobilised from a standing start in virtually no time at all and continued to drive the programme at pace, to the delight of the client. This included successfully challenging the SI to up their game and respond appropriately.

WHAT MAKES PROJECT ONE SPECIAL TO ME

Project One has all the qualities of a company I really want to work for. Challenging work and great opportunities coupled with a great bunch of highly motivated and ambitious folk who are passionate about what they do, supportive, helpful, fun and have a great community spirit.

An interview with Andy Ward, Consultant

ANDY’S BACKGROUND

An early stint at Ford opened my eyes to the application of leading edge technology to business problems; this is still a passion to this day. I’ve spent the majority of my career at one of the big 4 Consultancies, working initially deep in the techy world of programming, progressing to take on project and ultimately programme management roles. I still love getting involved with the technology, but even more so seeing this applied to difficult business problems, bringing those benefits to thousands (sometimes millions!) of users and consumers. My experience spans clients in Defence, Government, Media and Telecoms.

 

WHAT I’M MOST PROUD OF IN MY TIME AT PROJECT ONE

Well, being somebody who enjoys delivery, I would have to say getting things live! Recently I oversaw the technology leadership for an implementation of a cloud based HR system for 35,000 users. The comment from the most senior IT leadership representative was that it was one of the most smooth technology rollouts of a new system he had ever seen in the company. That was pretty satisfying and definitely something to be proud of.

WHAT MAKES PROJECT ONE SPECIAL TO ME

For me it is the freedom to be purely focused on the client – which isn’t always true of large consultancies. This has enabled me to build strong relationships in all areas I have worked – such that when they have a problem they come to me for advice knowing that I am there to make things better for them. Just recently a client I had indirectly worked with approached me as they were taking a few first tentative steps in Agile. It was great just to be able to say let’s set aside a few hours and together look at what is going to make this initiative work well for you. Being able to do that brings great job satisfaction.

An interview with Jo Battam,Consultant

JO’S BACKGROUND

I am a highly experienced change leader with over 20 years’ experience of successful transformation delivery across a diverse range of clients and industries. Naturally inquisitive with an authentic and customer centric approach, I am prepared to challenge the status quo and aim to drive improvements in capability, engagement and business results. Throughout my career I have held several operational and consulting roles and in June 2011 I joined Project One as a consultant.

WHAT I’M MOST PROUD OF IN MY TIME AT PROJECT ONE

One on my greatest highlights was when I was asked to step in and recover a strategic initiative for Virgin Media. I landed a new retail proposition with significant regulatory change and got it to market in seven months from start to end against an initiative that typically takes two years. Most proud of the trust the client had by moving me from one of their current strategic programmes to being asked to lead and recover this endeavour.

WHAT MAKES PROJECT ONE SPECIAL TO ME

The adult to adult culture, the way you’re allowed to work on the client’s agenda. Secondly working with like-minded individuals who all want to do the right thing for the client, the company and to support each other. I’ve never worked for another company who has anything like what we have at Project One.
