An interview with Peter Lewis, Consultant

PETER’S BACKGROUND

I’ve been involved with change throughout my career. In the early years, I designed and then ran operational solutions for a business services company. I moved quickly into shaping and delivering transformational solutions for these clients, through projects and programmes spanning both business and IT change. This exposed me to a multitude of clients across a myriad of business sectors, and to this day I still love having this level of variety in my work. I joined Project One in April 2014 and I continue to be passionate about leading and delivering change successfully.

WHAT I’M MOST PROUD OF IN MY TIME AT PROJECT ONE

Transforming Virgin Media into a full mobile network operator, working on its own platform, and able to compete independently in the marketplace. I led the entire business change initiative, and was responsible for landing the new ‘ways of working’ into all business and technical support teams across UK, European and offshore teams, including both Virgin Media and partner organisations. The implementation was on time, landed smoothly, and was quickly stabilised. As a result, there was negligible customer impact and Virgin Media now have control of their own destiny in the mobile marketplace.

WHAT MAKES PROJECT ONE SPECIAL TO ME

For starters, it’s the work we do… assisting our clients on large-scale, interesting and challenging change programmes. But what I really appreciate is being part of the Project One team. Either working with like-minded, supportive colleagues out on client engagements; or being able to draw upon the rich depth of knowledge and expertise that is both available and readily shared, across the community that is Project One.

An interview with Matt Wynn, Consultant

Matt’s Background

I am a change leader with strong experience in shaping and delivering large scale business and technology transformation programmes. I’ve spent the majority of my career leading multi-disciplinary change functions and teams in the utilities sector before making the move into consulting. I enjoy nothing more than getting my sleeves rolled up and helping clients address their big strategic challenges in a practical way that delivers sustainable results. Alongside portfolio and programme leadership roles, I also focus on leading change capability improvement and operating model assignments.

What I’m most proud of in my time at Project One

My highlight so far has been designing and building a new business change function to own delivery of a complex portfolio of enabling projects for Virgin Media’s network expansion programme. My main deliverables included designing and recruiting the team, introducing fit for purpose reporting, governance and portfolio planning whilst leading delivery of the project portfolio.

What makes Project One special to me

There are two things that stand out for me – firstly, that the Project One operating model ensures we have the time and flexibility to focus 100% of our time and energy on the client’s agenda and challenges. Secondly, the variety and scale of different engagements at Project One means you are constantly experiencing new challenges with no two engagements ever being the same – from leading complex, international, multi-year transformation programmes to short sharp advisory projects!

An interview with Marcel Grant, Consultant

MARCEL’S BACKGROUND

I joined Project One in September 2013 and have around 20 years’ experience in delivering business and IT transformational change programmes for multinational clients. I have led international and cross-functional teams supporting large scale technology and complex systems integration programmes. I have worked across finance, telecommunications and airline industries.

WHAT I’M MOST PROUD OF IN MY TIME AT PROJECT ONE

After completing a review of a troubled inflight workflow programme, I was asked to take over its management, to reshape it and deliver two Pega based workflow applications for a client that wanted to expand their telco fibre network. The applications handled the Wayleaves approval process, and the network expansion process from opportunity identification, through planning and build to the release of new, connected homes which also included a data migration of inflight opportunity groups.

WHAT MAKES PROJECT ONE SPECIAL TO ME

Project One provides me with an environment with less bureaucracy than larger consultancy firms, and gives me the opportunity to work 100% for and on behalf of our clients, and therefore always representing the client’s best interests.

An interview with Jo Battam,Consultant

JO’S BACKGROUND

I am a highly experienced change leader with over 20 years’ experience of successful transformation delivery across a diverse range of clients and industries. Naturally inquisitive with an authentic and customer centric approach, I am prepared to challenge the status quo and aim to drive improvements in capability, engagement and business results. Throughout my career I have held several operational and consulting roles and in June 2011 I joined Project One as a consultant.

WHAT I’M MOST PROUD OF IN MY TIME AT PROJECT ONE

One on my greatest highlights was when I was asked to step in and recover a strategic initiative for Virgin Media. I landed a new retail proposition with significant regulatory change and got it to market in seven months from start to end against an initiative that typically takes two years. Most proud of the trust the client had by moving me from one of their current strategic programmes to being asked to lead and recover this endeavour.

WHAT MAKES PROJECT ONE SPECIAL TO ME

The adult to adult culture, the way you’re allowed to work on the client’s agenda. Secondly working with like-minded individuals who all want to do the right thing for the client, the company and to support each other. I’ve never worked for another company who has anything like what we have at Project One.
